Best Super Bowl XLIII Ads 2009

Below I have added the ads that I think stand out from this years 2009 Super Bowl.

This year saw the price for a 30 second spot raise to a cool $3, 000 000 !

1. www.careerbuilder.com. A funny one from the guys and girls at Wieden+Kennedy. They also have created an online component to this campaign called anonymous tip giver that allows you to send anonymous tips to their bosses and co-workers. (Nice effort but the online stuff could have been soooo much better)

2. Pedigree pet foods: Crazy pets ad by TBWA. Nice ad to get people to adopt a dog rather than a crazy pet. If you visit Pedigree’s website (linked above) then you can see further clips and even a link to an iPhone app, and every time the video is watched they will donate a bag of dry dog food to animal shelters up to a total value of $1,000 000 !! good on them so go give it a watch.

3.Doritos crash the super bowl ads by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Good job by these guys. Basically they created 5 different ads and put them up on http://crashthesuperbowl.com/ and allowed the public to vote for which ad should be shown. Oh yes and as an added bonus if they win the best ad spot of the super bowl this year they will give away $1,000 000 to a person that voted on the site!.

4.Hyundai Assurance Commitment ad also by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Great idea from Hyundai promoting their new Assurance car offer whereby if you buy a new car from them and loose your job within 12 months you will be able to return your car and stop the payments without penalties.

5.Banned PETA Veggie Love ad by Matter (cant find link to agency?). Shame it got banned as although I could never be a Veggie I love the blatant abuse of degrading sexy girls in this ad.

6.Diet Pepsi Max by TBWA. Two great new ads advertising their new Diet Pepsi Max as the first cola designed for men. Oh and Pepsi if your reading why have a YouTube channel and not have the Super Bowl ad’s on it?????? (FAIL)

7.Pepsi Refresh Anthem ad by TBWA. Another one from Pepsi this time featuring legend Bob Dylan and then Will-i-am. The ad has had a lot of press (from them managing to use a Dylan song) and shows the parallels between the old days (60’s) and today (00’s).

8.Coca Cola: Avatar ad by Wieden+Kennedy. Basically it shows the normal human population coexisting with their avatars (online versions of themselves). I guess in this wide wired world that its  nice to see but would have hoped for more to be honest.

9. www.godaddy.com ad done in-house featuring Danica Patrick can be seen on their website. Its the same idea as last year and the year before where they air a small part of the ad at the game and then have to watch the full x rated version online. (only problem is this year its not at all X rated or funny)

10. Miller High Life 1 second ad spot by Saatchi & Saatchi. This one got a huge amount of buzz. The below ad aired before the game explaining the idea behind saving cash for the Miller ads from the warehouse guy and then during the game they aired 1 second ads rather than 30 second spots.

11. Audi Chase ad by Venables Bell & Partners featuring Jason Statham and the new Audi A6

12. Bud Light: Conan O’Brien ad by DDB great effort and always love a bit of Conan.

13. Bud Light: Meeting Ad by DDB

14. Bud Light: Skier ad by DDB again

15. Budweiser: Clydesdale Stick by DDB

16. Budweiser: Clydesdale Circus  also DDB

17. Castrol: Grease Monkey ad by Ogilvy & Mather

18. Bridgestone: Potato Head ad by Richards Group

19. I know its not an ad but new Star Trek film looks like it might be good.

20. Bridgestone: Hot Item ad by Richards Group

21. Denny’s: Serious Ad by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. If anyone fancies a free breakfast on Tuesday 3rd just go to a Dennys (USA) between 6am and 2pm and you will get one !!!!
