Adobe, the chaps behind the well loved Photoshop have announced that they plan to release an online version of their popular photo editing suit to take on the likes of Picasa, the Google based online photo application.
They plan to release within 6 months and subsidise the service by online advertising.
Adobe’s CEO Bruce Chizen told press “The new online service is part of a larger move to introduce ad-supported online services to complement its existing products and broaden the company’s reach into the consumer market”.
The idea is not to compete directly with existing Photoshop programs but to add a scaled down simplified version to allow people to easily edit their pics and possibly post them to blogs and online albums etc. The application will be designed to be better than the rest of the current online suits such as Google’s current popular online editing suit Picasa.
Time will tell but I’m sure with the respect and experience they have from Photoshop they will do a grand job!
